My Work
My Work
I produce podcasts.

Eight shows, thousands of hours, countless ears

I create audio shows for my friends, clients and myself.
I'd probably do it for free, but don't tell anyone that. Click here to listen to my show, Bird Road. You can also subscribe below.

Millions served

Tired: Intranets. Wired: Communications Hubs.

I build virtual one-stop shops for internal communications teams using tools like Sharepoint, Wordpress, Jive, Yammer, Workplace and others. My focus is on content and strategy, but I also get my hands dirty with development and implementation.

Sorry, no links for this one, just screenshots.

Culture & Engagement

Organizations with engaged workforces are more profitable, full stop. And that's no coincidence. Who wouldn't want to work harder and stick around longer at a place where they feel recognized?

My clients have included blue chip brands as well as niche organizations.

Features & Journalism

From newsrooms & the field

Look at all this original reporting. It's wild. Here, you can read some selected works from my years as a reporter, becoming ever more hard boiled, feet ensconced in shoe leather, a wretch to varying degrees ink-stained.

What’s behind the bluing of sections of Miami-Dade County that have for so long been reliably Republican? The answer lies in the numbers. Originally appeared in February/March 2013 issue of Poder Hispanic Magazine.

SOME RECENT WORK

SOME REALLY OLD WORK

A lot of people don't have their first stories handy after years and years, but I guess I'm lucky. It kind of makes me cringe to hear it now, but it's worthy of inclusion here. The sound quality is a bit rough, but I think it shows promise.

BASEBALL IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

In 2009, I traveled to the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico to explore the social, economic and darker side of baseball within the Caribbean. Outlaw buscóns, steroid dealers, financial pressure, Big League-dreams and the talent pipeline that makes it rife with exploitation -- our two-week series covered all the bases.

CRIME

 REPORTING IN MIAMI & BEYOND

Protests, riots, art heists, mayoral-law enforcement spats, and cold blooded murder - I committed them all.
(Just kidding, I covered them.)
It might be possible to report on Miami and not get your hands a little dirty, but who would want to do that?

BIO

Screen%20Shot%202020-11-18%20at%202.50_e

I'm David Quiñones. I was born in New York and I live in Miami. Whether I'm podcasting, doing journalism, building communications strategies or helping my community through activism, it all comes back to writing. My favorite thing to write about is the collection of superstructures that cause people to think, feel and act the way they do. This often leads me to work involving politics, consumer brands, language, and communications theory and practice. My least favorite thing to write about is myself.

You're really going to push me for specifics? Fine, you can find them on my resume, but to summarize: I've won awards for my original reporting, which has appeared in the Miami Herald, Fusion, Poder Magazine, ESPN, the Associated Press, National Public Radio and Reuters.
